The Midland Youth Jazz Orchestra swing into Leamington's Spa Centre

THE MIDLAND Youth Jazz Orchestra swing into Leamington’s Spa Centre on Sunday January 28.

MYJO has an international reputation having toured the world and worked with big names including Arturo Sandoval, George Shearing, Benny Carter and even Sir Bruce Forsyth.

The orchestra – which remained unbeaten in the BBC National Big Band Competition for 20 years – has also collected awards including an ‘Outstanding Services To Jazz Education’ award in Canada, and has twice won the Dutch National Big Band Competition.

Tours have included the USA, Russia, Canada and throughout Europe.




In 2016 the orchestra appeared in front of Prince Charles at the RST in a special variety show marking the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death.

* FUNKSTER play Leam Jazz on Wednesday January 24.

The eight-strong jazz funk outfit will be performing at the club based at Leamington Rugby Club. Doors open at 7.30pm and admission is £8.
