Taking up the 'Bottomless Brunch' challenge at the One Elm

THE ONE Elm in Stratford has laid down a challenge.

Every Saturday from 9am to 3pm the Guild Street gastropub is offering diners the chance to tackle the ‘Bottomless Brunch’ – either a stiff bottom or a soft bottom.

Essentially diners have two hours – from time of booking – to eat and drink their way through a specially selected menu.

It’s ideal for those looking for an an antidote to the morning after the night before, or simply those looking to satisfy a rumbling tum.

Think sausages and bacon from Leamington ‘s butcher and royal warrant holder Aubrey Allen, free-range local eggs and bread from the Brown Sugar Bakery.

Then there’s pancakes or waffles piled with crispy bacon and maple syrup or bagels loaded with Severn & Wye smoked salmon and chive cream cheese.

Or try granola with superfruit, honey yogurt and chia seeds or summer berries and natural yogurt.

There’s also a hearty full cooked option including Jimmy Butler’s sausage and bacon, mushroom, black pudding, eggs, tomato and beans, as well as eggs Benedict or smashed avocado and poached eggs on sourdough.

It can be washed down with a cup or two of single origin Rwandan filter coffee or tea of the Yorkshire , fresh mint or green variety.

And then there’s the mater of a stiff or soft bottom. Stiff means choosing a Bloody Mary, Brunch Punch or Mimosa – as many as you want, but sticking with the one option – or a refreshing juice if opting for soft.

This is not an all you can eat buffet, and you need to finish one course before ordering another, which cleverly and sensibly avoids waste.

Service at the One Elm has always been second to none, and the cheerful staff ensure those taking on the ‘Bottomless Brunch’ – the stiff option costs £20, the soft £15 – can do so at their pace.

Anyone hoping to work their way through the entire menu will need a bottomless stomach to conquer the ‘Bottomless Bunch’.

But for your average diner the ‘Bottomless Brunch’ simply offers great quality and value.
