THE FEAST of Fiddles will be fiddling away at Stratford Playhouse on April 16.
The group, born from a planned one-off special concert in 1994, now have 30 years under their belt, which has included 28 spring tours, 26 festivals and the release of seven albums.
Contrary to popular belief, the idea for this band did not come from the extra fiddles that joined Fairport Convention on stage at Cropredy in 1993.
The band of veteran folk-rockers includes fiddlers Garry Blakeley (Band of Two), Ian Cutler (Bully Wee), Peter Knight (Gigspanner, Steeleye Span), Tom Leary (Joe Brown), Brian McNeill (Battlefield Band), Stratford resident of many years, Marion Fleetwood (Trad Arr, Sandy Denny Project).
All the fiddles are held together by drummer Dave Mattacks.
