A STUDENT from Stratford-upon-Avon College is proving to be a hit in the ring after winning his latest boxing match at a Birmingham competition.
Sam Rossiter, a 16-year-old sport student at the college, has won his latest fight at a competition in Birmingham hosted by Anderson Boxing Gym. Sam, who is in his first year studying sport, took his three-round bout on a unanimous decision.
Sam, who lives in Evesham, has been interested in boxing since he was 13, but only started to pursue it seriously in the last year.
“I first started boxing for fun, but then I started to really like it. At that point I started to take my training more seriously,” he said.
This past year Sam has been working hard with his coach and has now entered four competitions.
With the support of his family, his coach and the college behind him, Sam has high hopes for the future.
“Mainly, I want to go as far as I can with boxing. There is a National Competition in February so I’m currently training for that,” he said.
“My aim is to win as many fights as I can now to prepare. In the future, once I’ve gone as far as I can with boxing, I want to use what I learn at college and from boxing to maybe become a coach or a personal trainer.”
