Stratford town centre welcomes partial return to normality

BUSTLING scenes from Stratford’s town centre paint a hopeful picture of post-lockdown.

Non-essential shops, gyms and hair salons returned to business as usual last week following the second milestone in the government’s roadmap out of lockdown.

And restaurants, pubs and cafes with outdoor seating welcomed back punters with help from the sunny weather.

Jacek Dewbowski who runs Plantarium Cafe, in The Minories, was hopeful for the future. He said: “It was great to welcome customers back and see them meeting friends and enjoying themselves. There was a nice buzz in the courtyard, especially on the weekend.

“It feels the normality is coming back which is needed not only for the businesses but for everyone.

“We hope the road map plans won’t be changing and the summer will be fantastic for the town and for everyone.”

The next milestone on the roadmap is set to be May 17 when it’s hoped pubs will be able to fully open, along with indoor hospitality venues and attractions.
