Willis touch and go for Bath trip, says Blackett

WASPS chief Lee Blackett is hopeful that Jack Willis will be back available for Friday’s trip to Bath (7.45pm), after limping off in the 34-5 triumph over Exeter Chiefs last weekend.

The Black and Golds earned revenge of sorts last time out in the Gallagher Premiership, handing out a first defeat of the season to the reigning champions – who were victors in the previous meeting between the side’s in October’s Grand Final – while handing Wasps a third win this term.

And while the impressive triumph included braces for James Gaskell and Simon McIntyre, adding to Lima Sopoaga’s solo score, the victory was marred by losing flanker Willis midway through the encounter to a hip injury.

“Jack’s injury looks muscular, hopefully it’s not too serious but we’ll know more in the coming days,” said head coach Blackett.

“We’re really pleased with the result, built off of our good defence and a very good performance by the pack up front.

“It’s one of our biggest strengths – people underestimate how good a pack we’ve got.

“We knew they were missing some key guys but we went with as big a pack as we could, it’s a long time since we picked Haskell at six.”
