POLICE are investigating following footage captured of a fox being torn apart by hounds in a Stratford village.

The incident took place in Arlescote on Wednesday (October 28) and an investigation is currently underway.

It was filmed by West Midlands Hunt Saboteurs which had been following the Warwickshire Hunt group during an event.

It appeared to show the hounds chasing a fox across a field before it appeared to be caught in a copse alongside the road. Unable to reach the fox before it is killed, the saboteurs retrieve the dead animal and hold it up to show the riders as they move on.

A spokesperson for the Warwickshire Hunt said: “The hunt is aware of an incident on the October 28 which was reported to the police and will be investigated through the appropriate channels. The hunt will, of course, assist with any further enquiries into the matter.”

Police say this is an emotive issue and ask anyone with evidence or original footage to report it directly to them.
