Snap happy care worker keeping busy during lockdown

Stratford Editorial 27th Jun, 2020   0

A SNAP happy care worker has been keeping busy during lockdown creating pet portraits.

Mum-of-two Emma Sabin from Shipston has been a keen photographer for the past five years and usually takes child portraits or pictures at events for her small side business Freedom Photography.

But after lockdown caused work to dry up, Emma – who is also a carer at Lucy Glyn residential home in Stratford – decided to turn her camera to something new.

And after taking an online course in animal portraits she said her new images of pets doing their owners favourite hobbies has been a huge hit.

Emma told the Observer: “During lockdown I’ve still been going to work as a key worker and also look after my two little boys, so I already have my hands full.

“I get so much out of creating beautiful images and these pet portraits were something quite different to offer. All my clients absolutely love them.

“It is so satisfying considering I really struggled so much at school because of my dyslexia and difficulties learning to enjoy both my jobs as much as I do.”

But Emma says the portraits are very time consuming and it can take weeks to make an image look realistic and photograph each item.

She added: “It’s been mind-blowing but tremendous fun.

“I can’t wait to reopen the studio and start photographing pets and creating images out of their owners own hobbies or interests and see where this new adventure takes me and my small business.”
