Scarecrows raise a smile as they take over south Warwickshire village

SCARECROWS have been setting up home in a south Warwickshire village.

Quinton resident Chloe Breen invited fellow villagers through Facebook to create a scarecrow with a ‘life in lockdown’ theme to brighten up people’s daily walks.

Within a few days over 120 scarecrows had appeared, and they are now also popping up in neighbouring villages.

Scarecrow creations have included David Walliams with a new career in construction, Mildred Hubble who lost control of her broom and landed in a hedge, tidy Tony based on a villager who has litter picked it for 13 years, a few doctors and nurses, bin men, and superheroes.

Local farmer’s son Oli North even went one step further and created a farmer complete with a cow.

Chloe said: “The effort that has gone into this has been incredible.

“The scarecrows have brought so much joy and togetherness at a difficult time for so many. The children have especially enjoyed seeing them and all I hear when someone passes is laughter and giggling…it has been incredibly heart-warming to see and be a part of.”
