A COVENTRY man ignored the nation’s coronavirus lockdown to drive to Manchester – with his wife in the boot.

Police say the driver had collected windows he bought on eBay, for £15.

The windows took up so much space in his car, when police pulled him over his wife was sitting in the car boot.

A twitter post from North West Motorway police read: “A driver has travelled from Coventry to Salford to collect a £15 EBay purchase of windows.

“His wife could not fit in the vehicle so she was travelling in the boot for the return journey when they were stopped on the M6 in Cheshire.

“The driver was issued a traffic offence report by police.”

The government has banned all non-essential travel in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

One commenter remarked on the police post the couple had seen ‘a window of opportunity’ in taking the 220-mile round trip.
