Soaring popularity of Stratford's Victorian Christmas market sees it extended a fourth day

THE POPULARITY of Stratford’s Victorian Christmas Market will see it extended an extra day.

More than 123,000 visitors flocked to the popular tourist destination for last year’s three-day market – which was double the first held in 2013.

As a result the yuletide market, held in the town centre, will run from Thursday December 10 until the following Sunday, and will include some 300 stalls along with entertainment and a traditional funfair.

Stratford District Council spokesman Ian Shenton said: “This is a key event for bringing visitors to the region and the economic impact is significant for the area, which is why we have decided to extend the celebrations by an extra day to encourage more visitors to attend and to provide an extra day of festivities.

“We’re hoping that this year’s markets will be even more of a success than last year with the positive feedback we’ve received.”
