PLANS to build homes on a greenbelt site in Stratford look set to be approved.
Proposals for five homes, parking, gardens and the conversion of an office building, on land off Warwick Road, have been submitted by landowner the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust and Rosconn Strategic Land.
The area is part of The Hill estate formerly owned by Shakespeare’s family which includes a Victorian coach house last used as an office.
There are also several dilapidated sheds and greenhouses which would be demolished.
The plans have been recommended for approval by Stratford District Council planning committee.
But the town council has objected to the proposal due to the greenbelt constraints and because it ‘undermines’ The Neighbourhood Plan, falling outside development boundaries.
The application will be considered at a Stratford District Council planning meeting on Wednesday (January 22).
