Town mayor's dreams of planting a tree in every Stratford school realised

GREEN-MINDED Stratford mayor Kate Rolfe has been doing her bit in the fight against climate change.

Coun Rolfe spent a rewarding day with a team from Blenheim Nurseries at schools throughout the town – planting saplings along with pupils or delivering them to be planted later. In total trees were planted or delivered to 12 schools.

Coun Rolfe said: “Trees create the air we breathe. Without trees, our air would lack the oxygenation we need.

“Planting trees builds community spirit and these young people are the first link in the chain to educate communities about the benefits of trees and nature.”

Stratford Town Council declared a climate change emergency in July and is backing the mayor’s tree planting initiative.
