THE FORMER chief of world cycling, Brian Cookson OBE, helped Stratford Cycling Club celebrate their 2019 successes.
Mr Cookson, former chairman of the UCI, was the guest speaker and presented the prizes at the club’s annual awards presentation night to mark a year of outstanding results from members racing across a wide variety of categories.
Mark Hamer collected three awards including best male all-rounder, while Emma Bexson took the female prize.
The club’s juniors were also recognised for their success and dedication, with many finishing in the West Midlands top ten in closed circuit, mountain biking, track and cyclo-cross.
Notable successes were Molly Kostka winning the West Midland U10 cyclo-cross league, Alex Burden and Sam Abbott winning their age categories in the track league, Spencer Corder’s and Lewis Tinsley’s performances in the mountain bike league and Matthew Jordan being selected to join the Regional School of Racing.
