Stratford Leisure Centre swapping free swims for donations to foodbank

Stratford Editorial 6th Dec, 2019 Updated: 6th Dec, 2019   0

A FREE swim at Stratford Leisure Centre is being offered in exchange for a food donation.

The centre is one of the drop-off points across the town where people can donate food to Stratford Foodbank.

The free swim is offered on Thursday and Friday December 12 and 13 in exchange for dropping in food or an item into the centre’s collection basket.

The foodbank volunteers gather the food to create nutritiously-balanced parcels to last three days.

Foodbank manager Marion said: “The Christmas spirit is alive and well in Stratford! Thank you very much for your support, Nick Stowey, general manager of the leisure centre and also to the foodbank donors.”

Items the charity is particularly in need of include tinned veg, potatoes, tomatoes, meat and tinned veg meals and Christmas crackers.

Other drop off locations include collection baskets in Tesco, Morrisons and Waitrose, and in churches across the district.
