Historic stately home plays host to leading golf tournament

LEGENDARY golfers, sporting greats, celebrities, tour golfers and amateurs took over Nailcote Hall near Berkswell for the annual Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship.

The championship – the leading Par 3 tournament in the UK – takes place over four days with the professional competition sandwiched in between two Celeb-Am competitions where teams of three amateurs play alongside a celebrity.

Among the famous names at this year’s event were ex-Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel, Boyzone singer Keith Duffy and former Strictly Come Dancing head judge Len Goodman.

The Celeb-Am event is always a huge hit with the amateur golfers and the celebrities, all enjoying a fun round on the impressive course.

But the professional competition is a much more serious affair with some of the most talented golfers from the European Tour and European Senior Tour vying for the top cash prize.

Observer photographer Jon Mullis was on hand and captured these picture of the competition.
