CONCERNED residents in Stratford have blasted plans for a 15 metre phone mast they fear could be dangerous to health.
The network mast is planned to go on Clopton Road near to Thomas Jolyffe Primary School.
Objections have been made to the plans submitted by mobile providers EE, Three and Mobile Broadband Network Limited.
Residents are concerned at the potential impact on health particularly to children at the school.
One objector wrote: “The proximity to a primary school and nursery poses a serious risk to the health and wellbeing of young children. As yet the implications of new technologies are unknown and until proven 100 per cent safe and risk fee should not be imposed upon the most vulnerable.
“There are many more practical locations away from housing, families and children and out of sight.”
But a letter in support dismissed health concerns and said coverage was needed in the area.
Advice from the NHS suggests radio waves from mobile phones and base stations are unlikely to impact health although research is still ongoing.
A decision is set to be made on July 9.
