Alcester choir gives homeless a helping harmony

Stratford Editorial 8th Jun, 2019   0

CHORISTERS raised the roof for a cause close to their hearts.

Alcester based Tarantara choir performed at the United Reformed Church to raise money for the Stratford’s homeless community which is supported by the church during its weekend soup kitchens.

Chairman Barry Juckes and his wife Ros are part of the Street Pastors team, working closely with the vulnerable and needy on the streets, and decided to organise the event which raised some £1,4000.

The concert included original arrangements of Bohemian Rhapsody and Coldplay’s Viva la Vida as well as American folk song and, fitting into the homeless theme, Ralph McTell’s ‘Streets of London’.

The choir is available for charity events and is next performing on June 29 at Stratford’s Holy Trinity Church.
