YOUNG climate strikers returned to the streets of Leamington today to speak up for the planet.
Around 40 children and parents marched around the centre as horns blared and chants of ‘save our planet’ rang in the air.
The march is the second to be held in the town and one of thousands taking place simultaneously around the world.
Three have also been held in Stratford, with the first of its kind in February attracting hundreds of young people.
They are held during school hours, after teenage activist Greta Thunberg demanded political action against climate change outside Swedish parliament, during classes last year.
She called for MPs to take measures to drastically reduce carbon emissions with thousands of pupils across the world following suit.
Nine-year-old Lola joined the march with her mum and younger brother Jack.
She said: “We’ve done a lot of damage and we need to start now or our future could be ruined. It’s not just for the animals but it depends on what we do now for our future and our children’s future.”
“We’ve come to the march to save the world,” added five-year-old Jack.
The climate strikers are also calling on Warwick District Council to follow a number of local authorities in declaring a climate emergency.
