IT HAS been a good start to the year for two young hedgehog rescuers from Stratford.
Kyra Barboutis and Sophie Smith did not have chance to put their feet up over the festive break – instead they continued with their work saving poorly hedgehogs.
But the 12-year-olds have been recognised for their life-saving efforts.
The pair were named by BBC’s Countryfile as ‘Inspiring Women’ on a special Christmas show. They have also been nominated as educator of the year and young achiever at the Pride of Stratford Awards.
And after naming one of their poorly hedgehogs after star of The Chase and I’m a Celebrity, Get me Out of Here, Anne Hegarty, they were tweeted by the TV personality who said: “They named a hedgehog after me, life goals!”
Kyra said: “Everything that has happened so far this year has been a massive compliment. To top it off we have very exciting plans in the pipeline.”
