Fierce Sisters take over gardens at Shakespeare's New Place in Stratford-on-Avon

Stratford Editorial 12th Dec, 2018   0

SHAKESPEARE would certainly have approved.

All-female acrobatic theatre group Mimbre have brought some real theatricality to the gardens of New Place – the bard’s final Stratford home.

Promenade performance Fierce Sisters shines a light on the women of Shakespeare’s plays featuring acrobatics, dance and slam poetry.

Beatrice says all the things a kiss was supposed to silence, with additional rants through the flowerbeds, Juliet breaks loose from overbearing parents and conventions in an aerial escape from the balcony, while Kate The Shrew simply refuses to be tamed and battles a storm of misogyny in her own playful way.

Commissioned by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust and supported using public funding by Arts Council England, Fierce Sisters is the Trust’s third winter production since New Place reopened in 2016.

Fierce Sisters is on until Friday (December 15).
