Dog owners and pets invited on countryside walk in aid of Dogs for Good

VETS are calling dog owners and their pets to join a countryside walk in support of its charity of the year, Dogs for Good.

Avonvale Veterinary Centres will host the two-mile walk at Newbold Comyn in Leamington on Sunday October 7, starting at 10am.

Kim Rathbone, registered veterinary nurse at Avonvale, will lead the walk with other staff members and their dogs also taking part.

Dogs for Good will also be attending the event with some of its dogs in training. The Banbury-based charity is celebrating 30 years of making life-changing differences to people with disabilities.

Kim said: “We decided to host this fund-raising event to encourage the community to support our cause by enjoying a walk in Warwickshire’s picturesque countryside with their dogs.

“We are asking all participants to donate at least £5 to help us raise much-needed funds for our charity of the year, Dogs for Good.

“Its volunteers help our community by training dogs to support families and people with disabilities. We’re honoured to sponsor such an important charity, as these dogs help give people their independence back.”

Avonvale is contributing towards the costs of training, feeding and providing healthcare for a puppy, which costs more than £20,000 throughout a dog’s working life.

Dogs for Good will also have a stall selling goods at the event and there will be a raffle, which will be drawn after the walk.
