FIREFIGHTERS demonstrated high rise fire rescue techniques during a visit by the High Sheriff of Warwickshire.

Clare Sawdon witnessed how firefighters handled the rescues as part of her visit to Warwickshire Fire and Rescue headquarters in Leamington.

She spoke with crews about how an incident was managed, the different roles undertaken and how resources were used to ensure public and firefighter safety.

Warwickshire County Council’s community safety spokesperson Andy Crump said: “We hope that Mrs Sawdon enjoyed her visit to the station and was impressed with the work undertaken by the crews.

“It’s always interesting to see what the perception people have of the fire and rescue service, and the understanding they have, not only of the fantastic work our firefighters do in terms of fire safety, rescuing people from floods and road traffic collisions, but also their work in educating young people in schools, their partnership work to tackle arson and their work towards improving the health and social care outcomes for our communities.”
