A BODY has been found at a former quarry near the village of Bishop’s Itchington.

Police made the discovery around 11am this morning (Friday) during a search for a missing 17-year-old boy in the Blue Lagoon area.

Police were called at around 6.30pm last night after concerns were raised for the teenager who is thought to have got into difficulties while swimming.

The body has yet to be formally identified. The boy’s next of kin have been informed.

A report is being prepared for the coroner.

A cordon is in place and the B4451 Station Road leading into the village near Southam remains closed.

Inspector Rupert Atkinson said: “The family are being supported by specially trained officers and we would ask that people respect their privacy at this difficult time.

“I would like to thank everyone in the local community and on social media who has offered their help since yesterday evening.”
