'Dream' night delights young hospice patients

Stratford Editorial 21st Jun, 2018   0

A ‘DREAM’ night was had by young hospice patients at Stratford Butterfly Farm.

Some 15 families who use Zoe’s Place Hospice – which supports terminally ill children from babies to five-years-olds – were welcomed to the Butterfly Farm for an evening of entertainment.

Hospice staff were also welcomed through the doors to enjoy face-painting, mini-beast handling sessions, a visit from Stratford fire crew and a picnic in the wildflower garden.

The ‘Dream Night at the Zoo’ is an initiative which has been taking off across the globe and sees zoos open their doors at night to welcome chronically ill and disabled children and their families who would not normally be able to visit the attraction.

Butterfly farm spokeswoman Jane Kendrick said: “We were honoured to host this event and to see so many families enjoying themselves.

“We look forward to hosting another Dream Night at the Zoo next June.”
