Signs point to the healthy route

Stratford Editorial 27th May, 2018   0

PEOPLE are being encouraged to ditch the car and take up walking and cycling.

New signs have been installed at Leamington Station and Stratford Parkway which show the average walking time to town centres and visitor destinations. The signs also include maps which highlight key walking and cycling routes.

Warwick Station, Warwick Parkway and Stratford are next in line for installation, which will take place in June.

Warwickshire County Council spokesman for health, coun Les Caborn said: “Walking and cycling are not only cheap and accessible, they’re good for people’s health and wellbeing as well as the environment. These signs are designed to help people to understand how long a journey may take and the most direct route, in the hope they will encourage people to walk and cycle more as a travel option.

“We have some wonderful visitor attractions in Leamington, Warwick and Stratford which bring many visitors throughout the year. These signs should help to make our towns easier to navigate, more welcoming and more environmentally friendly.”
