Charity bookshop wins national award

Stratford Editorial 20th May, 2018   0

A BOOKSHOP in Stratford has become its own story after winning a national award.

The Shakespeare Hospice Bookshop beat some 2,500 hospice shops to the Specialist Retail Outlet of the Year title in the Hospice UK Retail Awards.

A representative from Hospice UK said: “We were impressed by the dedication shown by the managers and the lengths they go to create a welcoming environment which encourages repeat business and much needed funds.”

As well as a vast selection of books, the Rother Street shop has a children’s room, a performing arts room offering a range of music and vinyl, and its own coffee shop area.

Book clubs are also held monthly as well as upcycling events.

Retail manager Tracy Holdback said: “We are over the moon to receive this trophy and it is fantastic that the Shakespeare Hospice Bookshop is recognised and all the hard work our volunteers put in to keep the shop running day to day.”
