FIRE chiefs are warning drivers to look out for signs their car is overheating.

A man whose engine overheated, pulled over on the A46 and called the fire service.

Crews put out the fire which started in the engine compartment.

A spokesperson said: “If whilst driving you notice your car is overheating or making unusual noises, pull over and check it.”

Other signs include the temperature gauge creeping up, an unusual smell and steam pouring from the bonnet.
