Sea cadet shortlisted in royal competition

Stratford Editorial 8th Apr, 2018   0

A STRATFORD sea cadet has been shortlisted in a royal competition.

Charlotte Drinkwater is competing in the CVQC Duke of Westminster Award Competition which recognises cadets who demonstrate an exceptional level of commitment in their contribution to society.

The sixth-form student volunteers as an instructor at the Children’s Kayaking Charitable Trust in Evesham and is a lifeguard and swim instructor at Everyone Active in Studley.

Charlotte will battle it out among 40 competitors over two days of physical and mental challenges.

If she is one of six selected for the final, the sea cadet could be on her way for a sun holiday to South Africa or for lunch at the House of Lords.

Lieutenant Roger Edmunds who nominated Charlotte said: “We are delighted that Charlotte has got through to the next level’ he said. ‘Charlotte has a determination to achieve and a natural ability to make people smile and have fun, even in difficult circumstances. We wish her every success in the next round of the competition.”
