SHAKESPEARE Lions have been focusing on helping those with poor vision in Stratford.
To mark the international service’s centennial year, Shakespeare Lions – which has been helping the community for 50 years – is fundraising for Stratford Eye Hospital.
The club has provided anti-glare glasses and an IT app to showcase equipment to those visually impaired, which they demonstrate twice a week to hospital patients.
Volunteer June Lloyd-Adams said: “Lions have been part of many projects aimed at preventing blindness, restoring sight and improving eye care.
“Changes to your sight can be extremely scary and can make life seem very daunting.
“However the service we are providing at Stratford Hospital is to showcase that this does not need to be the case. You can still be independent, as there are so many aids out there that can make everyday tasks still accessible for you.”
Lions hold demonstrations on Mondays from 2pm to 4.30pm, and Thursdays from 9.30am to noon, at the hospital’s CafĂ© Lomas.
