A RESIDENTIAL drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre has opened in Southam.

It is the county’s first residential centre offering treatment to those recovering from addiction with support from professionals who have personal experience with battling addiction.

The 11 bed centre has been funded by Public Health England (PHE) and addiction support service ESH Works.

Recovering addicts will be offered support to prevent relapse, strengthen family relationships, and to find employment.

PHE alcohol and drugs spokesperson Sarah Burwood said: “PHE is pleased that capital funding awarded to ESH Works Ltd has supported the development of the first residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation unit in Warwickshire.

“This is an excellent example of how the Department of Health capital funding, distributed by PHE, can support projects helping their clients to overcome dependency from drugs and alcohol.”

Warwickshire County Council health spokesman Coun Les Caborn, who visited the centre, said its location was away from distractions, providing a safe and supportive environment.
