Nature-loving tots do their bit

NATURE-LOVING tots in Upper Tysoe have been busy planting trees.

Children at Winchcombe Farm Day Nursery received saplings from The Woodland Trust as part of a national scheme to encourage an interest in wildlife and combat climate change. The children planted 30 trees in a bid to create a hedge near the nursery.

Nursery manager Allie Aves said: “We’ve planted the trees along the paddock fence to connect to existing woodland, which will help hedgehogs and dormice stay on the move. We received a mixture of species including hawthorn, crab apple, dogrose and dogwood.

“The children braved the cold weather and really enjoyed the task.

“We shall keep a watchful eye on them over the next few months to watch them start to grow.”
