Stratford District Council to refuse plans to demolish Bidford Health Centre

COUNCILLORS are set to refuse plans to demolish Bidford Health Centre and replace the site with apartments.

Outline permission was granted to the NHS in 2015 to knock down the building on High Street and build nine flats in its place.

But Stratford District Council look set to refuse design plans for the development, saying the white PVC windows and cement roof slates are out of keeping with the historical appearance of the area.

The council also received a number of objections about the plans from residents, who raised concerns about access, privacy, flooding, loss of light and the height of the building.

A council report said: “Out of keeping use of materials would result in a development of a poor layout and appearance. As a result of this there would be unacceptable harm to the street-scene and character of the conservation area.”
