Shakespeare Hospice welcomes donation for new facility

Stratford Editorial 15th Aug, 2017   0

THE SHAKESPEARE Hospice has received a generous donation for a new facility.

The Shottery-based hospice has received just over £8,000 for a new clinical room thanks to Municipal Charities of Stratford, a grant-giving charity provides low-cost, self-contained accommodation for older people with limited finances.

Macmillan Lead Nurse Jo Flemming said: “We are so grateful to Municipal Charities. The new room will provide a place where patients can be treated with privacy and dignity.”

The hospice which has supported over 1,000 patients and their families in the last year, provides 24 hour, end-of life care for those with a life-limiting illness. The hospice needs £2million each year to continue its care and is the lowest funded hospice in the UK with only around five per cent of funds coming from the Government.
