New-look library finally opens its doors

Stratford Editorial 12th Jul, 2017 Updated: 12th Jul, 2017   0

BOOKWORMS can rejoice as the new-look Stratford library on Henley Street has finally opened its doors.

The library service left its temporary home at the ArtsHouse, Rother Street in late June.

The revamped library will also house the registration service, currently at Winton House on Church Street.

And a new ceremony room will unlock a historical part of the building – dating back to the late 1800s – and is set to host weddings and library events.

The refurbished building also includes two offices for the registration of births, deaths and marriages.

Library spokesperson Coun Kam Kaur said: “The historic building at Henley Street starts a new chapter as Stratford’s Registration Service moves to join the library at the site. As well as providing an excellent new library facility and an historic setting for weddings, the move also allows Warwickshire County Council to deliver better value for money with the two services operating from one building.”

The new service will be open for longer hours: 9am to 5pm from Monday to Friday, and 10am to 3pm on Saturday.
