SECOND Thoughts present The Winter’s Tale – with a twist in the tale.

The modern re-telling of Shakespeare’s tells the story of a tyrant King who believes his wife is having an affair with his childhood friend. His actions lead to his downfall as his world begins to crumble around him and his actions bring horrific consequences. A tale of jealousy, revenge and ultimately redemption.

The production is a directorial debut for young member Georgina Wood, who has chosen to set the first act in post-war London and the second act, which takes place 16 years later in Greenwich Village, New York.

The cast includes both familiar faces and newcomers.




Justin Osborne plays Leontes, Steven Bayman is Polixenes, Deborah Williams is Hermione and Jessica Gilkes is Perdita. Georgie has chosen to set the first act in post-war London and the second act, which takes place sixteen years later, in Greenwich Village, New York.

The show features original music composed by Jaren Cannon, and performed live on stage.


The Winter’s Tale can be seen at the Bear Pit Theatre from June 28 to July 1.
