THE ROTARY Club of Southam 2000 is helping Shakespeare Hospice treat patients in the comfort of their own home.
Rotarians raised nearly £1,200 for the much needed syringe drive which allows patients to receive medicine safely and constantly at home. The hospice already has two syringes which commonly treat terminally-ill patients.
Nurse Chrissie MacDonald said: “Although they are very expensive items, they are invaluable to the team and to the patients that use them.”
The charity provides a Hospice at Home Team which supports patient’s choice to be cared for at home, alongside family.
*A DONATION of more than £4,000 will help Shakespeare Hospice provide support for bereaved children.
The contribution from the Santander Foundation, which offers grants for projects helping disadvantaged people, will fund the group which offers therapeutic and social support for six to ten year-olds. The grant will also fund a residential outdoor adventure weekend for bereaved young people.
A group for parents, providing opportunities to create new social and support networks, will also benefit.
