A MAN has died following a crash in South Warwickshire.
It involved a car and a van and happened on the A429 near Ettington around 5.15pm on Thursday afternoon.
An ambulance transporting a patient to Warwick Hospital was just behind the crash, and the crew stopped to provide aid.
A further three ambulances were quickly on the scene together with the air ambulance, and also firefighters.
A man in the car was very badly injured. Medics and firefighters worked to try and free him from the vehicle, but his condition worsened.
A West Midlands Ambulance spokesman said: “Ambulance staff and the doctor performed advanced life support but sadly it was not possible to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.
“The van driver, a man believed to be in his 40s, had suffered a suspected broken pelvis, chest pain and had a right leg injury.
“He was immobilised, given pain relief and had a pelvic binder put in place before being taken on blue lights to the major trauma centre at University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire.
The patient originally en route to Warwick Hospital when the crash happened completed his journey in another ambulance.
