Wilmcote youngsters are in fine voice

Stratford Editorial 6th May, 2016 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

IN TUNE pupils at Wilmcote Primary School raised their voices for Shakespeare.

They performed in the Garrick Ode concerts at Stratford’s Holy Trinity Church and at Birmingham Town Hall to mark the 400th anniversary of the Bard’s death.

Wilmcote pupils were joined by two other primary school choirs – including Snitterfiled Primary School and Loxely Primary School – at both concerts to perform ‘A Shakespeare Masque’.

Choir group Ex Cathedra – in partnership with the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, the Shakespeare Institute and the Royal Shakespeare Company – staged the concerts as a tribute to David Garrick who organised Stratford’s first Shakespeare Jubilee in 1769.

Pupils were coached by Ex Cathedra’s vocal tutor Rebecca Ledgard.
