THE FLOODING from heavy overnight rain was something of a blast from the past for some Warwickshire residents.
While many roads are now clear after the flash-flooding on Wednesday morning, scenes similar to Easter 1998 still remain – waterlogged fields, rivers which have burst their banks and bridges hidden beneath high water.
Mud and debris litter the roads which were covered in water.
Stratford’s Recreation Ground, car park, play area and cricket club have all fallen victim to the River Avon bursting it’s banks – areas of Alcester, Bidford and Shipston are also underwater.
And the road between Hapton Lucy and Charlecote was only passable by boat or 4×4.
Latest advice from the Environment Agency are advising there is further potential flooding in Stratford on Thursday (March 10) between 4 and 7pm.
They also have ‘red’ flood warning out for the River Avon at Hampton Lucy, Alveston, Tiddington, Stratford, Harvington and Offenham, and an ‘amber’ warning for the River Dene at Compton Verney.
