LOAF cakes are on the menu at the RSC’s Riverside Café in Stratford.

New head pastry chef Bogdan Alexe has introduced a range of loafs – an orange marmalade and elderflower infused loaf; a dark, rich chocolate pistachio offering; a sticky dark ginger loaf cake; classic lemon drizzle and an Earl Grey tea infused fruit loaf cake.

The Romanian national has also introduced a range of double chocolate chunky cookies, fruit flap jacks with jumbo oats, honey, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, as well as white chocolate brownies.

Bogdan, who has been baking since he was 15, will also lead the RSC’s new café at revamped The Other Place.

Bogdan said: “I am delighted to be heading-up the Royal Shakespeare Company’s pastry offerings; it is such an innovative place to be which completely reflects my style of baking.

“Like the theatre, cooking is about giving people an experience and I’m excited to already be offering visitors a brand new range of cake loafs, cookies and brownies.”
