Gas works set for new year in Stratford

GAS works in the town centre will kick off the new year in Stratford.

National Grid will be replacing a section of gas pipe on Waterside which is set to start on January 11 and last for eight weeks, finishing in time for the Shakespeare 400 years celebrations.

There will be a one-way closure on Sheep Street while the work is completed and motorists should allow extra travel time.

National Grid spokesman, Stephan Murray, said: “We know that some of the essential work National Grid has to carry out to replace the gas mains creates disruption and inconvenience, especially in popular town centres, but we are always looking for ways to minimise these problems.

“We advise motorists to allow extra time for their journey and follow the road signs guiding them through the traffic management systems.”
