Taxi driver loses license for a week after failed appeal

Stratford Editorial 15th Sep, 2015 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

A TAXI driver from Stratford has been suspended for a week after losing his court appeal.

Rakesh Singh, of Betjeman Road, appeared at Warwickshire Magistrates Court on Monday (September 14) where he attempted to overturn a decision by Stratford District Council to revoke his Private Hire Operator’s Licence for a period of seven days.

The court found the 47-year-old had allowed one of cars to be used without insurance and on another occasion, he had driven one of his cars without his driver’s badge and without the front licence sticker being properly displayed.

The district council’s decision to suspend his licence was deemed reasonable and proportionate by magistrates, who rejected his appeal.

He was ordered to pay the district council’s full costs.
