A TALENTED young science whizz from Stratford is soaring high after winning a national competition.
Saanvi Pantankar from King Edward VI School was one of 19 students from across the West Midlands to make it to the final of The Big Bang UK Young Scientists and Engineers Competition.
Saanvi beat off competition from over 800 other entrants with a project titled ‘Biomimicry in aircraft design’. Her aircraft design emulates nature’s optimized structures to make it more efficient.
She was announced the competition winner at an awards ceremony at The Big Bang Fair at the NEC.
A sustainable floating farm, an AI-powered recycling bin and renewable energy generation through everyday movement, were just some of the other innovative science, engineering, technology and maths (STEM) projects battling it out for coveted top prizes.
Competition spokesperson Mark Skeggs said: “Well done Saanvi. The judging panel were very impressed with Saanvi’s application and her confident and clear video presentation. Both clearly demonstrated her knowledge, passion and overall enthusiasm for her innovative idea. The judges were particularly impressed with the 3D model she built and demonstrated to them, her overall knowledge of Intellectual Property and how she had considered her IP rights in the future.”
