STRATFORD Boat Club’s masters women competed on the Thames Tideway for the second time in as many weeks in the Vesta International Masters Head.

The club competed against 296 other crews as just under 300 boats took to the water.

Stratford’s masters D VIII crew comprised Fiona Schultz (stoke) with Corinna Burger, Jane Cryer, Abby Symons, Helen Helliwell, Claire Booth, Caroline Collins, Claudine Pearson (bow) and Jen Cary (cox).

The crew enjoyed a solid and stable row in windy conditions, following a fast line set by their cox, and thanked their coach, Sam Hill, and raceday supporters Alfie Nash and Lizzy Collins.

A long and cold two-hour wait greeted Stratford’s masters C mixed 4x of Rebecca England, Pete Spivey, Lucy Scarlett and Tom Doherty (bow) in their race.

The crew began the race on the iconic Boat Race course at the back of the pack and responded well to the call to push through the Chiswick stage of the course.

Stratford overtook the crew in front of them and powered through to take third place in a high quality field.
