RESURFACING of the Greenway in Stratford is among the projects to benefit from a funding pot of some £1.85 million.
Stratford District Council’s Cabinet approved this year’s Strategic Community Infrastructure Levy funding at its meeting on Monday (November 3) to support vital infrastructure projects.
A total of 15 projects were submitted for consideration. These were evaluated against criteria including deliverability, alignment with strategic objectives, and broader community benefits such as climate resilience, health, and equality.
And among the projects for funding are improvements to facilities at Alcester Academy, including improvements to the sports field, which will also serve the wider community, resurfacing of the Stratford Greenway from Long Marston to Milcote Road and Natural Flood Management Schemes for Wellesbourne/Kineton, Shipston on Stour and Alcester, developed in collaboration with the Environment Agency and Wildlife Trusts.
Projects not funded in this round will remain on the Infrastructure List for future consideration.
CIL is funding collected by local authorities from new developments to pay for local infrastructure projects, such as schools, transport, and green spaces
The total Strategic CIL available is £1,969,019.61, comprising receipts from the previous financial year and new contributions. Unspent CIL will be carried forward for use in the next financial year.
The Infrastructure List will be updated annually, with the next revision scheduled for March 2026.
