Road rage driver stops dead on M40 near Warwick to confront another motorist

A ROAD rage driver was captured on camera when he stopped in the ‘fast lane’ on the M40 near Warwick to confront another motorist.

The 38 year-old from Kent, who has not been named, forced another driver to pull up behind him in the outside lane of the northbound carriageway with no regard to the potential consequences in February this year.

He got out of his pick-up truck to berate the other driver, who calmly told him to get back in and drive on, which he subsequently did.

But he failed to consider that his victim was recording his own journey on dashcam, and promptly submitted the footage to Warwickshire Police’s Operation Snap, where it was reviewed and the driver summonsed to court for dangerous driving.

He was sentenced to a three year driving ban, 250 hours of unpaid supervised work and a 20 day Rehabilitation Activity Requirement.

Warwickshire Police Insp Dave Valente said it was remarkable his foolish action had not resulted in a serious injury or even a death.

Insp Valente added: “Whilst extremely rare, this case highlights the serious consequences of allowing yourself to get angry behind the wheel, putting other people’s lives at risk.

“Op Snap allows drivers to submit moving footage of poor driving, without taking matters into their own hands. Those whose driving falls below the standards expected can and will be held to account.

“By working together in this way, we can help reduce death and injury on our roads.”
