STRATFORD Town have appointed former Premier League defender Paul Robinson to the club’s management team.

Robinson will aid current Bards head coach Paul Davis following the club’s difficult start to the Southern League Premier Central season.

The 46-year-old made 175 appearances for Birmingham City and also featured for West Bromwich Albion and Bolton Wanderers in the Premier League.

Robinson said: “It’s either this or I’ll have to dust off my boots – and trust me, nobody wants that.

“Though my turn of pace might surprise a few to the bar.”

Following his retirement from playing, Robinson worked as a development coach at Blues and then as first team coach at Millwall.

He later returned to Blues in March 2024 to become technical coach until the end of the season.

Robinson most recently worked as assistant coach and then opposition analysis coach at Watford.

Bards head coach, Davis added: “We’re delighted to welcome Paul Robinson, a vastly experienced and highly respected figure in the game who joins our first-team management.

“His knowledge, professionalism, and winning pedigree are already making a massive impact behind the scenes.

“He brings a wealth of experience and a fresh, positive energy that is electrifying the entire squad.”

Stratford skipper, Josh Hawker said: “I was lucky enough to be part of a first team squad at the Blues with him.

“A proper character. He’s a winner, and if we can take anything from him, that will be one of the biggest things I’d want to get.

“Because he’ll want to win five a sides, he’ll want to win a race with you in the park, he’ll want to win rock, paper, scissors, if it may be. He’s a brilliant bloke.”

Stratford currently sit bottom of the table and are the only club yet to pick up a point in the Southern League Premier Central this season.
