STRATFORD-upon-Avon Boat Club’s adaptive squad won five out of six events competing at their last regatta of the season.
The club’s adaptive athletes took to the water for the final time this season at the Oxford Sprint Regatta.
And amputee athlete Ricky Clutterbuck claimed a debut win in the singles event.
The Stratford sculler won by a length after he reeled in a local rower from Oxford who started the final with a 10-second head start.
And 13-year-old Lance Fowler also won on debut alongside Andy Morris.
The Stratford pair beat another Oxford crew by five lengths despite Fowler only picking up the sport less than three months ago.
And Ethan Roberts also took the honours on debut rowing alongside Jake Blatcher against another Oxford crew in the final.
Roberts and Blatcher secured a two-length victory and lead from start to finish.
Morris returned to the water to claim another race win with Jason Clark.
The pair triumphed by four lengths ahead of a Marlow crew.
Mother and son partnership, Paola and Ian Ward also beat a Marlow crew by three lengths in the final event of the regatta.
However, James Bastin and Blatcher suffered an equipment failure soon after starting their race against another Marlow crew.
Blatcher also raced in the mainstream singles event and suffered defeat against the eventual event winner from St Hugh’s.
Stratford’s head adaptive coach, Mark Dewdney said: “This season was very much a transition year for us.
“Some have moved out of the area and Curtis Dickens, Stratford’s Paralympian hopeful has gone to train with the GB squad.
“The adaptive squad has generally performed above my expectations.
“We have only lost about half a dozen races all summer.
“The expansion of the neurodiverse provision at the club in 2025 is particularly pleasing.”
