Town ready to make Premier bow

STRATFORD Town are all set for the big kick-off this weekend as they prepare to visit Hitchin Town on Saturday in their first ever Southern League Premier Division fixture.

Carl Adams’ side will then play their first home game of the season on Tuesday when Bedworth United are the visitors, followed by another home game on Saturday, August 15 when Slough Town come to the DCS Stadium.

PLAYERS from the first England Women’s team to reach the World Cup quarter-finals 20 years ago will be lacing up their boots once more for a charity match at Stratford Town on Sunday (2pm).

An England Legends XI will play FA Women’s Premier League Northern Division champions Sheffield FC Ladies in a match for the first ever FA Women’s Premier League Charity Trophy to raise cash and awareness for Breast Cancer Care.




The legends will include current England assistant coach Marieanne Spacey, former national side skipper Gillian Coultard, renowned goalkeeper Pauline Cope-Boanas and England cricketer Clare Taylor.

Admission is £3 for adults and £1 for U16s and OAPs.


Distinguished 2010 World Cup final referee Howard Webb will be among the officials.
